Committee List

From developing and monitoring member benefits, to marketing and commencement initiatives, committees are an essential part of the Student Alumni Association and an easy way for members to actively shape GTSAA activities.

 

You can either email the committee chair or fill out the Member Interest Survey to learn more about involvement. 

 

Benefits

The Benefits committee is responsible for securing, inventorying and distributing all tangible member benefits.

  • Secures vendors that will provide discounts/benefits for the SAA members swag bags and Member Appreciation Days.
  • Selects promotional items, including member shirts and member swag and distributes. Keeps inventory and re-orders when needed.
  • Participates in discussion/ brainstorming sessions regarding potential tangible benefits to increase the value of membership.

Commencement Initiatives and Ramblin' On

This committee is responsible for the organization and execution of the all-student graduating party for every Spring, Ramblin' On. Additionally, they coordinate ways for SAA to celebrate students who are "getting out" of Tech. Graduating students cannot participate on this committee…because it is in celebration of YOU!

  • Determines and executes marketing of Ramblin' On to all seniors.
  • Plans and executes all aspects of Ramblin' On event from giveaways, food and entertainment to registration, set-up, and clean-up. 
  • Organizes and distributes SAA graduation gift to all graduating SAA members.
  • Volunteers at Commencment and Commencement fairs to congratulate  graduating students and talk to them about staying connected to GT.

Dinner Jackets

The Dinner Jackets committee is made up of students who are Dinner Jackets facilitators. You can become a Dinner Jacket facilitator after you have attend a Dinner Jackets events. Faciliatator responsibilities include:

  • Communicating with alumni as dinner plans are made. Letting alumni know who is coming, special needs, etc. Answers alumni questions as they arise.
  • Communicating plans to student attendees. Letting students know alumni background, directions, etc. Organizes transportation and answers questions.
  • Acts as student hosts at events. Assists alumni onsite, makes introductions, keeps conversation flowing, etc.

August 28th at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. 

August 29th at 6:30 p.m.

Get Ready for the Real World Series

The Get Ready for the Real World Series committee is responsible for planning educational events that allow students to learn from the experiences of various Georgia Tech Alumni. 

  • Determines Get Ready for the Real World topics that would benefit students.
  • Finds alumni at the top of their field who would be popular for Expert Jackets.
  • Plans and executes all logistics associated with the events.

Marketing & Membership

The Marketing and Membership committee active year round and is responsible for promoting the Student Alumni Association and its membership, ideas, programs, and events.  

  • Works with professional staff to determine positioning statements, year-long marketing plan, target audiences, etc.
  • Determines and works with designer on designs for t-shirts, member cards, promotional pieces etc. Brainstorms and executes creative, outside the box marketing ideas.  
  • Executes all marketing from handing out flyers, posting on social media and sending out targeted emails.
  • Coordinates a weekly SAA table for students to learn about upcoming events, join or renew membership and pick up member benefits.
  • Works with the marketing team on various efforts to register new members and communicate the value of SAA. Constantly evaluates the registration process.
  • Makes sure all members who want to be involved understand how they can get involved and makes it easy for them to do so.

Mentor Jackets

SAA’s primary focus is connecting students with alumni. The Mentor Jackets committee works with Alumni Association staff on the execution of these one-to-one and e-Mentoring programs.

  • Encourages SAA members to take advantage of this valuable opportunity.
  • Plans and executes Mentor Jackets events and webcasts to provide unique interactive opportunities for alumni mentors and student mentees.

SAA Gift To Tech

Part of the membership donation is a gift to Georgia Tech to help support the Institute we love. The SAA Gift to Tech committee is responsible for all activities surrounding the selection and presentation of this student gift.

  • Determines giving opportunities and meets with departments to better understand their needs.
  • Coordinates voting process for what area receives the SAA Gift.
  • Plans and executes SAA Gift to Tech event and presentation.

Spirit Days

The Spirit Days committee is responsible for securing and distributing gifts on designated SAA Spirit Days as well as notifying members of upcoming Spirit Days.

  • Determines plan and theme for every Spirit Day.  Selects items for general population and prizes for SAA members.
  • Works with the marketing team on creative ways to spread the word about upcoming events.
  • Executes all aspects of Spirit Day events.

Tradition Keepers

SAA believes every student should be aware of and proud of the many traditions at Tech. The Tradition Keepers committee is responsible for planning and executing tradition tours as well as promoting and running the Tradition Keepers program.

  • Organizes the tour sessions and serve as tour guides for Traditions Tours.
  • Trains new committee members to become guides.
  • Monitor the Tradition Keepers website and check off traditions as participants complete them; distribute TK prizes as students complete levels.
  • Promote the Tradition Keepers program across campus.
